Ward is a certified Bio-Energetic Analyst, having completed in 1992 six
years of training with the San Diego Institute of Bio-Energetic Analysis. Bio-Energetics looks very carefully at
a form of self-sabotage called "rising above," or, in Jungian terms, "the process of inflation."
Rising above and/or inflation is an obstacle to psycho-spiritual growth because it operates as a defense against
reality. Rising above almost always involves an element of escapist grandiosity by which reality is avoided."Rising
Above" means seeking after new possibilities at the expense of immediate growth projects. If this self-sabotage
is consistent the character issue can evolve into "Narcissistic Masochism" which means, "defeating
oneself and think that one likes it that way." Such self-defeating behavior can be greatly reduced by pinpointing
just where the avoidance is. Where there is avoidance, there is also excitement. Ward also specializes in techniques
that help find their "edge" between excitement and self-sabotage. Ward Johnson also offers psycho-spiritual
groups and educational classes. He has developed techniques to deal with self-sabotage which he presents in a group
therapy program for men: "How Men Defeat Themselves and Think They Like It That Way." Dealing with procrastination
is also another special interest, as well as, an introductory video tape on "What to Expect from Marriage".
